Bad FAT alert

How much do you understand bout fat??? Most of the people thought that fats are not good. Then, YOU ARE WRONG!! Basically not all fats are harmful. But, always say NO! NO! to the following killing fats:-

SATURATED FATS
Fat that contains only saturated fatty acids. It contains more in animal products than in plant-based products. Some examples of animals products are red meat (eg: beef, lamb, pork), cheese, cream, ice cream, dairy, butter and eggs while coconut, palm kernel oil & chocolate are some examples of plant-based products. It tends to be solid under normal room temperature.

You are advised to get rid of it as much as you can as it contributes the most in elevating cholesterol level, especially the LDL cholesterol level, which is so-called the bad cholesterol and it is also one of the main risk factor of cardiovascular disease.
You are advised to take not more than 7% of saturated fats of your daily total calories.

TRANS FATS
Also called as Partially Hydrogenated Fats, as it is a process where the liquid vegetable oils are turn into solid fats. It is generally use to extend the lifespans of processed foods, especially fries food, marjerin, cookies, chips, cakes, muffins, donuts and pizza. It is extremely popular in Fast Food Restaurants. It is harmful to health and it contributes to major health problem such as heart disease and cancer. It will raise the LDL (bad) cholesterol levels while at the same time lowering HDL (good) cholesterol levels.

You are advised to take not more than 1% of trans fats of your daily total calories.

Examples:-
If your daily calories = 1200
you are advised not to consume more than 1% of trans fat daily.
how many gram of trans fat you can consume daily? = 1.33grams

1200kcal x 1% = 12kcal
12kcal / 9kcal = 1.33grams of trans fat

**1 gram of FAT = 9kcal**

Know your Metabolic Rate

Metabolic Rate is the rate at which your body burns calories. Basically, our body burns calories through 3 different ways:-

1) Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is the amount of energy expended on a daily basis at rest, which is closely linked with Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR). BMR will show you the minimum calories your body need daily to keep yourself in a resting position and it also represents the minimum amount of energy which is required in order to keep your body functioning well (includes: having your heart beat, lungs breathing & body temperature normal). Please be reminded that our body still burning calories although we are in a non-active position, for example: sleeping or sitting.

2) Thermic Effect of Exercise (TEE) is the amount of energy expended due to activity perform in your daily living. (for example: work & exercise). The higher the TEE, the higher the calories your body required. The following is a list of activity factor based on your activity category.

Activity Factor   Category
1.2   Sedentary (Less Active)
1.4   Lightly Active
1.6   Moderately Active
1.7   Very Active
1.9   Extremely Active

3) Thermic Effect of Food (TEF) is the process of extracting energy and nutrients from food, including absorb, digest and process. Our body required more energy to digest the foods which are protein based and carbohydrates based compared to the foods which belongs to fat based. As such, it is essential to convert our body fat into muscle and consumption of protein is strongly recommended.

*********************************************************************************************************************************************
In order to estimate your daily energy requirements, you need to know your BMR, TEE & TEF.

In conclusion:-

TEE(inclusive of BMR) = BMR x Activity Factor

TEF = about 10% of TEE (inclusive of BMR)

DAILY ENERGY required (kcal/day) = TEE (inclusive of BMR) + TEF

*********************************************************************************************************************************************
For example:
Your BMR = 1200kcal & you are a less active person (involved no exercise and your daily activities won't consume lots of energy, for example watching TV & playing games)

Your daily estimate calories consumption required are:-
TEE (inclusive of BMR) = 1200kcal x 1.2 = 1440kcal
TEF = 10% x 1440kcal = 144kcal

OVERALL DAILY ENERGY required = TEE (inclusive of BMR) + TEF
                                                              = 1440kcal + 144kcal = 1584kcal/day

the importance of water

WATER playing an essential part in our daily livings. It contains no calories, fat, nor cholesterol and is low in sodium. We need water consumption to keep ourselves stay hydrated all the times. Water is also playing an essential role in burning body fat & calories, the major "transport" in our body that carry the nutrients to every single body cells for cellular regeneration.
A lots of people aware that consumption of water is important. But, they might do not know that how much of water that exactly needed per day to keep their body staying hydrated. Some might think that consumption of few glasses of water per day is sufficient. But many do not know the exact "SUFFICIENT WATER CONSUMPTION" means to their body.

On a daily basis, human beings have to consume at least 1 litre of water for EACH 25kg of their Body Weight. For example, if your body weight is 85kg at the moment, you need to consume at least 4 litres of water daily in order to keep every cells of your body functioning well & stay hydrated.

"Water intake vs Body Fat" Since water is playing as an important medium in burning body fat & calories, you need to bear in mind that to drink sufficient water consumption daily. Else, your body will not has the sufficient water for such process, in turn your body fat will increase. In short, it means HIGH WATER INTAKE = LOW BODY FAT, or vice versa. count your calories

Attention to all Malaysian!!! What type of food that you usually eat for your breakfast, lunch and dinner???

Do you really know how much calories had you consumed from whatever greatz & yummie nice food that you put into your mouth on your daily meals???
Below are some estimated calories per serving of some of our favourite Malaysian Food.
Omg!! I guess most of the people will answer with "NO!". Most of them do not know their calories intake. Everyone has their own Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). From your very own BMR, you will know on the calories that your body could burn on a daily basis (under the condition of without any workout/exercise). So, watch out for the food that you take daily.

You are not advised to take more calories than your BMR if you are someone that not keen in exercise or workout. Else, you gotta bear the consequences. As EACH 7700 unburned calories is equivalent to 1KG of Body Fat. That's the reason where OBESITY comes into place.

My advise to everyone: 1) choose properly on your food consumption;
                                     2) alert yourself with calories of your frequently consumed food;
                                     3) exercise on a regular basis

Oh Yeah!! Let's do it for the sake of your HEALTH!!!

intestine (大肠) vs eating habit

I believe that a lots of people in the world do not eat the proper food. Some of these people even do not like to eat grains, cereal, vegetables or fruits. Meat, fast food, seafood, cheese, junk food are on the top list as their food preferences list. Some even smoke or drink alcohol and practising an unhealthy lifestyle.

Nowadays, lots of youngster tends to ignore the advise being given to them. But, I would like to share a quick & short video with you. Your eating habit or your daily diet will affect your health slowly & unknowingly. This video had captured some of the intestine ranged from healthy to unhealthy, up to even tumor is found in the intestine by using endoscopic(内视镜).

You might not understand the languange spoken or mandarin subtitle. But, no problem, you can definitely differentiate between a healthy intestine and an unhealthy intestine. This is all related to your daily diet and your eating habit since you are small.

Below are some summaries of the first few intestines showed in the video:-
The first intestine: a healthy intestine from a 45 years old woman. Her intestine is very clean and soft.
The second intestine: an intestine from a 75 years old woman whom followed the advise by the doctor strictly by practising a good eating habit in the past 20 years. She took brown rice and grains, salad & vegetables as her main meal and used to take fruits 30 minutes before each of her breakfast and dinner. She also take 60g-70g of fish as one of her meal.
The third intestine:  an unhealty intestine from a 47 years old fat woman. Her main food are meat, cheese, yogurt, almost 70% of the protein are from animal fat. The wall of her intestine is very thick & oily, which makes her facing the difficulties in excretion (排泄).
The fourth intestine: an unhealthy intestine from a 52 years old guy with high blood pressure, Hyperlipidemia (高脂血症) and Prostatic hyperplasia (摄护腺肥大). He used to drink 2 cups of milk every morning and took low fat cheese and yogurt daily. He took 200g-300g chicken 3-4 times and 200g fish per week. He also took bread, rice, vegetables and fruits every meals.

YOU ARE WHAT YOU EAT!! This is very truez. So, please take care of your diet properly. Take the healthy and nutrition based meal instead of those that will affect your health in future. Please take action now to change your health before it is too late.

If you have doubt on what to do now, you can always feel free to leave down your particulars at the bottom of this blog. A personal wellness coach will be arranged to guide you.

Causes of High Obesity Rate in Malaysia

One of the most popular trend in Malaysia right now is not fashion, is neither nice food....But, it is the TREND OF OBESITY...

According to the report in our local newspapers dated 11/04/2010, one of the main reason for Malaysian getting obese is by eating too heavy at night time. Yes, this is very truez! Malaysia is the Heaven of Food. 24 hours full of greatz and yummie food around. From Mamak Stall, McD and even Old Town Coffee Shop is now operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

We are suppose to practice a healthy lifestyle, instead of staying late at night or having late dinner or supper in the midnight. This is strongly against the practice of healthy lifestyle. It is advised that to have dinner latest by 8pm or at least 4 hours before sleep in order to have a good digestion.

The latest Malaysian Obesity Rate had now increased to 50%, which means that in every 2 Malaysian, 1 of this 2 will be either OVERWEIGHT or OBESE. This will placing them at a very high risk for diabetes as well.

Dear Malaysian, please be awake. Alert yourself with active lifestyle and nutrition & health information. Please reduce the FAT in your body before it's too late.
